Al-'Asr
{1} وَالْعَصْرِ
By (the Token of) Time (through the Ages),
{2} إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ
Verily Man is in loss,
{3} إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ
Except such as have Faith, and do righteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.
Al-Humaza
{1} وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ
Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and backbiter,
{2} الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ
Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by,
{3} يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ
Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever!
{4} كَلَّا لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ
By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into that which Breaks to Pieces.
{5} وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ
And what will explain to thee that which Breaks to Pieces?
{6} نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ
(It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze),
{7} الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ
The which doth mount (right) to the Hearts,
{8} إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُؤْصَدَةٌ
It shall be made into a vault over them.
{9} فِي عَمَدٍ مُمَدَّدَةٍ
In columns outstretched.
Al-Fil
{1} أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ
Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Companions of the Elephant?
{2} أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ
Did He not make their treacherous plan go astray?
{3} وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ
And He sent against them flights of Birds,
{4} تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ
Striking them with stones of baked clay.
{5} فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَأْكُولٍ
Then did He make them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up
